Polluted air from the Sugarcane factories in Mhlume to breeze.
Eversince i got to Capetown sunset watching with my nostrils wide open fresh breeze on my nose has been one of the things that gets me thrilled i love it. I am not sure if scientifically my nostrils being small is because of toxins in Mhlume. An apartment or bigger a house along the Atlantic seaboard is more like a dream, the smell of the ocean, the views and sounds of the waves i live for that. My nose is always stuffed and believe me i breath well in Seapoint than my city apartment.
Unforgettable moments to lift your soul

Capetown’s sunsets are my lifeline when life gets heavy bills stacking up, dreams feeling out of reach, and the weight of being far from Eswatini pulling at my heart. Those moments when the sky explodes in pink and gold, with Table Mountain standing tall, feel like a deep breath after a long day. Forget the crowded Signal Hill where tourists snap the same pics. These hidden spots are where I go to find peace, and I’m letting you in on the secret. If you’re Googling “best Cape Town sunsets” or craving a real moment in this city, this is for you. Take out your phone, snap a picture, and share it on your social media like instagram, X , facebook Reddit or with friends, even snapchat is cool.
The Rocks in Fresnaye- An Escape
Tucked high above Clifton and Camps Bay, The Rock in Fresnaye is my sanctuary. You’ll find it on Google Maps, a short scramble through some bushes off Ocean View Drive each time we drive past the a Frenchman friend would tell me of how rich the people that live along the oceanview drive . Wear sneakers, light weight Nikes or new balance are a great choice cause it’s a bit rugged.
When you hit that flat granite boulder, the view hits back Twelve Apostles glowing gold its stunning at the top, the Atlantic shimmering like it’s showing off. I came here after a rough week, student debt stressing me out, munching biltong with friends or new strangers who might be leaving the weak after, as the sky turned cotton-candy pink. It’s quiet, no tourist buses, just you and the breeze and awesome fresh air right through your nostrils.
I lived for more than a decade and a half in a highly polluted place, the factory used coal for as long as i know and the locals used coal stoves, fresh air is like a gift. I sat, legs dangling, feeling like the world could wait. Pack a picnic,no booze, though, cops patrol sometimes and soak it in i don’t know if i take booze with but hello! Take no booze with, don’t ask me what i do.

Bakoven Beach – Small but Stunning
Bakoven Beach, here is the thing i hadn’t known about this gem and so glad a local Afrikaner white friend recommended this gem is squeezed between Campsbay and Llandudno, which is a tiny cove with big vibes. Massive granite boulders mark the sand, and the waves crash just right, making it feel like you’ve escaped the city without leaving it. I’ve sprawled out here on a blanket, the salty air calming my nerves after a long day hustling in Capetown. It’s less packed than Clifton beaches, and you might catch a surfer gliding across the water, silhouetted against a fiery sky well reminds me of Doja Cat silhouette challenge.
This spots pops up when you search “Capetown hidden beaches,” and for good reason it’s the place to be no one knows it as much as you think they do. One evening, I watched the stars peek out, forgetting my worries for a bit. Make sure you bring a snack, maybe some koesisters from a local vendor, and let the sunset work its magic. Feeling adventurous? Try a surf lesson to ride that glow.
Kloof Corner – A Hike Worth the Sweat
I love challenges and for a home girl like me who is never board inside hiking is a challenge. If you’re down for a quick adventure, Kloof Corner’s 25-minute hike up Table Mountain is where it’s at. Start at Tafelberg Road near the cable car station, climb some steep steps, and boom Lion’s Head and Camps Bay sprawl out below, with the sky turning purple. I huffed my way up one evening, stressed about money, but that view?
The view is breathtaking, it was like the city hugged me back. I sat there, catching my breath, watching the clouds catch fire. It’s dog-friendly if you grab a SANParks permit, but watch the cliffs my heart skipped a beat near the edg. Pack water and a sturdy backpack for the trek. I have several times had to sit down the past week when i was hiking, since i did my hike in the afternoon earlier than usual.

Maiden’s Cove – Coastal Charm with a Braai
Maiden’s Cove, nestled between Camps Bay and Clifton, is where locals go for a sunset braai. The Milkwood trees give it a cozy feel, and the views of the Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain are straight-up magical. I went with friends once, the smell of grilling boerewors mixing with the ocean breeze as the sky turned orange. We laughed, shared stories, and forgot the grind for a bit. It’s perfect for families or a chill group hang, with braai spots you can claim early. When you search “Cape Town picnic spots” and this pops up. Bring your own braai kit or book a guided picnic for ease.
